Our skilled team of DVMs offer an extensive array of surgical procedures for our canine and feline patients. Some surgical procedures routinely performed at GPVC are: ovariectomy, ovariohysterectomy, castration, foreign body removal and mass excisions.
While we understand that surgery along with the required anesthesia may cause stress, our goal is to provide a safe, positive experience for all involved. The process begins with a full physical exam, complete blood analysis and adequate pain medications. Each patient will have an IV catheter in place to deliver fluids and ensure adequate hydration and blood pressure are supported. Our licensed veterinary nursing staff with be with your pet throughout the pre and post anesthetic process. We will monitor vitals such as blood pressure, heart rate and rhythm, body temperature and other critical components associated with safe anesthesia from start to finish.
At the time of discharge, you can expect or nurses to give you extensive information and instruction regarding the after care needed for your family friend. Medications will likely be prescribed to keep your pet comfortable and anxiety free during the recovery period. We will walk you through each phase of your pet’s surgical procedure to ensure the best and most comfortable outcome.
In addition to our staff of doctors we work with Dr. Tom VanGundy, a boarded veterinary surgeon. Dr. VanGundy preforms major orthopedic and soft tissue procedures as a mobile service or, our doctors may advise surgery in a specialty hospital setting in some cases.
